Unnatural PredatorsTM are the supernatural counterparts of bears and sharks: bringers of death, feeders on us. The term covers even creatures like White Ladies who probably don't cause death but just presage it. It also covers humans such as witches who act with the help of supernatural agencies to cause death and disease.
Taxonomy is a powerful tool: classifying objects or beings into groups of similar or disimilar fellows creates expectations in some respects and lack of expectations in others. The term vampire is very specific: a Penangalang is no more a vampire than a domestic cat is a lion. Lions and domestic cats have their similarities and their differences as do vampires and penangalangs, but they are not identical. The term Unnatural PredatorsTM enables us to examine each species of supernatural creature properly, without preconception or prejudice.
